Risk disclosure

Please read this before using any result from this site to make a decision with real money.

What AlphaEdgeCheck is

AlphaEdgeCheck is a research and education tool. It is not a broker, an exchange or a registered investment adviser, and it does not hold your money or place orders. Nothing here is investment advice, a recommendation, or an offer or solicitation to buy or sell any security.

Backtests are not predictions

  • Past performance does not indicate future results. A rule that worked on history can fail immediately.
  • Testing many ideas and keeping the best one produces results that look better than they are (overfitting). The train and test split helps, but does not remove this.
  • Simplified assumptions flatter results: approximate costs, assumed fills at the next open, no taxes, no market impact, and no limits on how much you can trade.
  • Few trades or a handful of outsized winners can make a result look strong when it is mostly luck.
  • One market over one stretch of history says little about other markets or conditions.

Paper trading is not live trading

A paper account has no emotions, no partial fills, no outages and no price slippage beyond a flat assumption. Real trading differs, often for the worse. Alerts only run while the page is open.

Data

Market data comes from Yahoo Finance. It is delayed and unofficial, and can be wrong, late or missing. Do not use it for trading decisions that depend on timing or accuracy.

Trading risk

Trading and investing involve a risk of loss, including the loss of everything you put in. Derivatives and leveraged products can lose more than you invest. Only risk money you can afford to lose, and consider speaking to a licensed adviser about your situation.

No guarantees

We make no promise of profit, accuracy or availability. The site and its results are provided as they are, and you use them at your own risk.
